Getting Ready In California and Connecticut

Day 1-9 

Day 1 -  He's Off!!
Day 2 -  Rainy day
Day 3 -  Loneliest Highway
Day 4 -  The loneliness continues.
Day 5 -  John arrived via Cessna 172.
Day 6 -  I think he is coming in late tonight.
Day 7 -  Weekend at Vernal's
Day 8 & 9 - The coffee maker makes great pasta!

 

Day 10-16

Day 10 -  We discovered Ray knew her mother!
Day 11 - ‘Huck full of Leeches’
Day 12 - The thin air made it hard for Ray to catch his breath
Day 13 - Chased by a dog.
Day 14 - Jimmy offers wheel from his personal bike!
Day 15 - Our 1,369th mile - okay Ray's! 
Day 16 - July 9, 2000 Ray incites cattle stampede.

Day 17-22

Day 17 - The Nebraska wind continued to thrash.
Day 18 - Ray moo's at cows.
Day 19 - What we saw was him walking his bike, not riding.
Day 20 - The return of the wicked spoke demon. 
Day 21 - We found a bike shop that was rather off the beaten path (The address was a Rural Route) called The Bike Barn.
Day 22 - The road today was like the treadmill on the Jetson's. We couldn't figure out how stop the crazy thing.

Day 23-29

Day 23 - No rest for Ray.
Day 24 - West Lafayette, Indiana
Day 25 - There were towns (Three - that we are aware of) that had major fires occur in them after we left
Day 26 - Ostrich farm
Day 27 - Third bee sting in a week.
Day 28 - Great news from back home.
Day 29 - Our obsessive-compulsive spoke imp returned with a ravaging hunger.

Day 30-36

Day 30 - Mr. Fox’s 88th birthday!
Day 31 - One of the great memories that we’ve collected of extraordinary people met during this Bike for Bread crossing.
Day 32 - Ray refuses to eat his brussel sprouts.
Day 33 - The owner of the World's largest collection of broken spokes meets fierce competition!
Day 34 - We saw our first sign for Connecticut!
Day 35 - Finally he rests
Day 36 - Police escorts, family & friends welcome us into Conn. as we try to figure out the maximum passenger capacity of our RV. 

Day 37 - Full coverage of the last leg of the ride and the final mile celebration!  Welcome Home Ray!!!
